Helsen's Hideaway, LLC was established in September of 2001, when owners Leo and Kathy Helsen purchased the Whispering Pines Campground in Irons, MI. Many renovations and improvements were necessary to upgrade the rustic campground to a full service resort including the immediate need for picnic tables. In quest to find a safe, durable, and economical picnic table, it was discovered that there was a lack of manufacturers who built solid wood picnic table suitable for commercial use. With engineering advice, Leo designed a table that not only exceeded his quality standards for the campground but was more affordable than any other comparable product on the market. Constructed of 4x4 treated wood legs, 2x6 bench carriers, 2x10 tabletops and benches, the table proved to be extremely stable and safe. Interest in the tables quickly spread. Due to the overwhelming amount of inquires to purchase the tables, a decision was made to manufacuture and market the picnic tables and plans for development were underway.
